Retroperitoneal inflammation
Definition
Retroperitoneal inflammation is swelling that occurs in the retroperitoneal space.
The retroperitoneal space is in front of the lower back and behind the abdominal lining (peritoneum). Organs in this space include the pancreas, spleen, and kidneys.
