Digital Mammography Breast Screening

A mammogram is the single most effective method for early detection, since it can identify breast cancer several years before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present. The latest in breast cancer screening is digital mammography, which produces a clearer image to help detect early signs of breast cancer. Monthly breast self-exams and yearly mammography after age 40 offer the best chances for survival.

Baseline Mammogram

A Baseline or Regular Mammogram Could Save Your Life. The number of breast cancer cases in women under the age of 50 has increased by 50 percent in the past few years. Experts do not believe there is an increase in the number of cancer cases, but rather that the cancers are being detected earlier. A baseline mammogram is your first mammogram. It’s also the one that all of your future mammograms will be compared against. Your baseline mammogram should be done after age 35, or if you are at high risk as determined by your physician. It’s important, since breast cancer is being found in younger women at earlier stages. Denver mammogram center services are provided by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists board-certified mammographers. Plus every mammogram at the Porter Breast Center is read by a dedicated breast radiologist and double-checked by a computer-aided detection system.
