Our mission
Our mission
We extend the healing ministry of Christ by caring for those who are ill and by nurturing the health of the people in our communities.
Why our mission matters to you
Most mission statements may seem like platitudes, but ours really matters to us, and because it does, it makes a difference to you. It affects the quality of service and care you receive when we welcome you to Porter Adventist Hospital. Every single day, over 1,200 Porter Adventist Hospital associates put our mission in motion in ways that truly make a difference.
Because we are a not-for-profit organization, we have no shareholders and no earnings to distribute— all of our resources go toward fulfilling our mission.
While our associates bring to their work some of the best skills healthcare has to offer, they also bring with them kind hearts, loving hands and innovative thinking. Ours is a calling like no other, where we strive to give you the best that science and spirit has to offer.
Even if you haven’t come through our doors, you, or someone you know, has likely been touched by our mission. We hope that by reaching out with resources, tools, compassion and expertise, we can render meaningful aid to those in need. We provide numerous free services, including:
- The Kids Alive Support Group for Children of Parents with Cancer. Launched over ten years ago, Porter remains the only organization in the Denver/Front Range area that helps children ages six to sixteen contend with the trauma of a parent’s diagnosis of cancer. For more information, please call Jeanne Currey, MR, MN, at 303-778-5832.
- Five “homes away from home" for out-of-area families who come to town for an organ transplant. These homes are donated by hospital and furnished with goods that are bought/donated by hospital associates.
- Massage therapy and acupuncture treatments for cancer patients to help relieve stress and manage pain.
- Healthcare for every uninsured person who comes to our hospital.
- New technologies and services to the community through a $90 million expansion and renovation of the hospital.
- The Holiday Christmas Shop, co-sponsored with the Denver South Seventh-day Adventist Church allows low-income children and teens to select holiday gifts for their family members. Kids come from Warren Village, Doctors’ Care, Jefferson County Children’s Alliance and Catholic Charities.
