Meet Our Medical Director

The Medical Director of the Porter Comprehensive Breast Cancer Care and Treatment Clinic, Dr. Colleen D. Murphy, has developed the clinic and oversees the programs. She has trained extensively in breast surgical oncology and served on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital as a breast surgical oncologist. Dr. Murphy’s professional interests include breast cancer risk assessment and screening, high-risk cancer patients, young women with breast cancer, diagnosis and treatment of lymphedema, breast cancer survivorship, breast MRI and more.
Dr. Murphy was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hope College with a degree in biology. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed her general surgical internship and residency at Indiana University. During her surgical residency, she completed a two-year breast surgical oncology research fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Following her surgical residency, she completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at the combined program of Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Harvard Medical School. She then joined the surgical faculty of the Harvard Medical School at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute where her practice specialized in breast surgical oncology. She has published many journal articles and book chapters in the field of breast oncology.
Dr. Murphy is married to Dr. Peter Kennealey, a member of SurgOne. She enjoys skiing, running, and travel.
