State-of-the-art Surgical Center

Spine Image | Porter Spine Institute | Denver, ColoradoThe Porter Spine Institute has the most advanced surgical capabilities in Colorado. The $40.4 million, 71,330 square-foot new surgical wing includes 13 new operating rooms, including four dedicated spine operating rooms, each accessed from a state-of-the-art sterile core designed expressly to enhance patient safety and outcomes.

Additionally, each surgical suite has:

  • Ultra-precise digital imaging technology, giving surgeons access in the operating room to superior quality MRIs, X-rays and CAT scans on a 48-inch screen. Coupled with technology similar to GPS (global positioning satellite) technology, this allows the surgeon to guide the precise placement of the surgical instrument in relation to the patient’s anatomy, within a fraction of a millimeter.
  • Three Carl Zeiss OPMI® Pentero surgical microscopes for neurosurgery and spine surgery, widely considered a revolutionary breakthrough in surgical microscope technology.
  • Integrated the Zeiss microscope with the hospital’s information and communication infrastructure allowing surgeons to import digital images from multiple sources.
  • Four Jackson Spinal Tables allow for precise patient positioning and stabilization. The tables have 360-degree rotation capabilities, which eliminate the need to reposition patients during surgeries, increasing patient safety.
