Surgery
For some types of cancer, surgery is the most common and effective way to remove a tumor. The surgeons at Porter Adventist Hospital are skilled in the most sophisticated surgical techniques which are performed in our new state-of-the-art surgical suites. There are various types of surgical oncology including preventative, diagnostic, staging, curative, debulking, palliative, supportive and restorative (reconstructive) surgery.
In addition to the many skilled surgeons we have at Porter, the team of SurgOne physicians, including Dr. John Campana, a highly respected Head & Neck Surgeon (voted “Best” by his peers in Denver’s 5280 Magazine) houses his practice, Colorado Head & Neck Specialists, on the first floor of Porter’s Cancer Care Center.
Surgeons at Porter are also leading the way in state-of-the-art technology by using the da Vinci Surgical System to perform prostatectomies. The da Vinci enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with unmatched precision. For the patient, benefits may include: significantly less pain, less blood loss, less scarring, shorter recovery time, and in many cases, better clinical outcomes.
